Terms for bidders

These are the terms for paying to hold a position in a supplier category on The Care 500. They are short on purpose.

What you are buying

A position in one supplier category, ordered by standing monthly bid, highest first. Your listing appears above every free listing in that category for as long as your bid stands.

Being listed is free and always will be. You are paying for the order, not for the entry.

What we do not promise

Your position is not guaranteed. Any other company can bid higher than you at any time, and if they do, they go above you. That is the whole mechanic, and it is the reason the standing bid is published rather than hidden. We will tell you by email when you are outbid, and what it costs to take the position back.

We do not promise traffic, enquiries, leads or sales. We will not quote you a figure we cannot stand behind. We will tell you how many companies are in your category and what the current top bid is, because those are facts. Anything beyond that would be a guess sold as a forecast.

We do not promise a particular search ranking. How Google, Bing or an AI assistant treats any page is outside our control.

Payment

Bids are monthly and rolling. There is no minimum term and no contract length. Payment is taken by Stripe on the same date each month until you stop.

Cancel whenever you like, from your Stripe receipt or by emailing us. Your position stays live until the end of the month you have paid for, then drops to the free listing. We do not refund part months, and we do not charge an exit fee.

Tiers are £10, £20, £35, £60, £100, £175 and £300 a month. You can move up or down at any time. If you want to pitch an amount between tiers, email us.

If you would rather commit for longer

Realistically, visibility takes more than a few weeks to show anything, and holding a position for one month tells you very little. You can pay twelve months upfront instead of monthly.

There is no discount for doing so, and that is deliberate. What a position costs is set by what other companies are willing to bid for it. If we sold a year at a discount, whoever took it would be holding the top spot for less than the number we publish as the top bid — and that number is the one thing on this site that has to be true. A published standing bid that some people secretly paid less for is not a standing bid, it is a rate card pretending to be one.

So an annual payment buys you administration, not a saving: one invoice rather than twelve card charges, and a budget line you set once and forget. If that is worth something to you, take it. If it is not, stay monthly — you lose nothing.

A prepaid year holds your bid at that amount for the year. You can still be outbid during it, and you can still raise your own bid. If you cancel mid-year we refund the unused whole months.

VAT: we are not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is charged. If that changes we will tell you before it affects your price.

Your side

You confirm that you are authorised to buy on behalf of the company you name, that the company name and details you give are accurate, and that you will tell us if they change.

If something goes wrong

If the service is unavailable or your position is shown incorrectly for more than 48 hours in a month, tell us and we will credit that month.

Beyond that, our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the previous twelve months. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, because the law does not allow it.

Nothing here affects any rights you have that cannot be excluded by law.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
